About AppDown

Last updated: April 2026

Our Mission

AppDown was founded in 2018 with a simple mission: to give Android users worldwide access to safe, verified APK files of the apps they need. Many apps are not available in users' regional Google Play stores due to geographic restrictions, regulatory issues, or platform policies. We believe access to safely-distributed software shouldn't depend on where you live.

We work directly with developers when possible and use rigorous verification processes for all third-party APK submissions. Every app in our catalog has its digital signature verified against the developer's official key, scanned by 70+ antivirus engines via VirusTotal, audited for unusual permissions, and tested on real Android devices including Samsung Galaxy, Xiaomi Redmi, Google Pixel, and OnePlus models.

What We Do

AppDown maintains a curated catalog of over 80 Android applications across categories including communication, social networking, gaming, casino, productivity, multimedia, AI, finance, and more. Each app page provides comprehensive information including features, screenshots, user reviews, version history, system requirements, and step-by-step installation instructions.

Beyond hosting APK files, we provide an extensive blog with safety guides, app reviews, comparisons, and Android tips. Our content is available in English and Russian, with Spanish coming soon.

Our Verification Process

Every APK we publish passes a five-stage verification process:

1. Digital signature comparison: We extract the APK signature and compare it byte-by-byte with the developer's official signature on file. Any mismatch causes immediate rejection. 2. Antivirus scanning: The APK is uploaded to VirusTotal and scanned by 70+ antivirus engines. Files with any detection flag are quarantined for manual review. 3. Permission audit: We review the requested permissions list and compare it with the app's stated functionality. Permissions inconsistent with the app's purpose trigger additional investigation. 4. Network analysis: We test the app in a sandboxed environment and analyze its network connections to ensure no suspicious data transmission to unauthorized servers. 5. Device testing: The app is installed and tested on physical devices including Samsung Galaxy S24, Xiaomi Redmi Note 13, Google Pixel 8, OnePlus 12, and other popular models.

Our Team

AppDown is operated by a distributed team of security researchers, developers, and content writers based across multiple time zones. This allows us to monitor new app releases 24/7 and respond rapidly to security reports or user feedback. Our editorial team includes native speakers of the languages we support, ensuring that all content is accurately localized rather than machine-translated.

We do not accept payment from app developers in exchange for catalog inclusion or favorable reviews. Our reviews are based solely on testing and user feedback. Apps with verified user complaints about deceptive practices, hidden fees, or privacy violations are removed from the catalog regardless of their popularity.

Contact Us

We welcome feedback from users, developers, and security researchers. Whether you want to report a bug, request a new app, or notify us of a security issue, our team aims to respond within 24-48 hours.

For developers: if you would like your app added to AppDown, please reach out with your app details, official APK file, and contact information for verification. We do not charge fees for catalog inclusion.
